These systems include but are not limited to navigation, avionics, mobile electric power and electronics, radar, sonar, telemetry, military, law-enforcement, automatic test, simulators, and command and control.
IEEE Circuits & Systems Society
The theory, analysis, design, tools, and implementation of circuits and systems. The field spans their theoretical foundations, applications, and architectures, as well as circuits and systems implementation of algorithms for signal and information processing.
IEEE Communications Society
The IEEE Communications Society promotes the advancement of science, technology and applications in communications and related disciplines. It fosters presentation and exchange of information among its members and the technical community throughout the world. The Society maintains the highest standard of professionalism and technical competency.
IEEE Computer Society
The scope of the IEEE Computer Society shall encompass all aspects of theory, design, practice, and application relating to computer and information processing science and technology.
IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society
The Instrumentation and Measurement Society’s Field of Interest is the science, technology and application of instrumentation and measurement.
IEEE Microwave Theory & Techniques Society
The field of interest of the society shall be "microwave theory, techniques and applications" of RF, microwave, guided wave, and wireless technologies, as they relate to components, devices, circuits, transmission lines, and systems involving the generation, modulation, demodulation, control, transmission, detection and effects of electromagnetic signals. It shall include scientific, technical, and industrial activities. Microwave Theory and Techniques applies physical and mathematical principles to analyze structures with dimensions representing a significant fraction of a wavelength or when propagation effects need to be considered.
IEEE Power Electronics Society
The field of interest of the IEEE Power Electronic Society includes the development of power electronics technology which encompasses the effective use of electronic components, the application of circuit theory and design techniques, and the development of analytical tools toward efficient electronic conversion, control, and conditioning of electric power. The core technical areas of power electronics include power converter topology, modeling and control techniques, power semiconductors, passive components, motor drives, sensing and communication, and design tools.
IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society
The field of interest of the Society shall be the theory, design, development and implementation of product safety engineering for equipment and devices used in the scientific, engineering, industrial, commercial and residential arenas. The Society will provide a focus for cooperative activities, both internal and external to IEEE, including the promotion and coordination of product safety engineering activities among IEEE entities.
In addition, the Society will provide a forum for product safety engineering professionals and design engineers to discuss and disseminate technical information, to enhance personal product safety engineering skills, and to provide product safety engineering outreach to engineers, students and others with an interest in the field.
IEEE Robotics & Automation Society
The Society is interested in both applied and theoretical issues in robotics and automation. Robotics is here defined to include intelligent machines and systems used, for example, in space exploration, human services, or manufacturing; whereas automation includes the use of automated methods in various applications, for example, factory, office, home, or transportation systems to improve performance and productivity.
IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society
Development of systems engineering technology including problem definition methods, modeling, and simulation, methods of system experimentation, human factors engineering, data and methods, systems design techniques and test and evaluation methods.
Integration of the theories of communication, control, cybernetics, stochastics, optimization, and system structure towards the formulation of a general theory of systems. Application at hardware and software levels to the analysis and design of biological, ecological, socio-economic, social service, computer information, and operational man-machine systems.
