Amir G. Aghdam (FIEEE, FEIC) received a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada, in 2000. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada, and the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies with Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science. He was a Visiting Scholar with Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, in the fall of 2015 and was an Associate with the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences from September 2015 to December 2016. His research interests include optimization, sensor networks, and distributed control of interconnected systems. Dr. Aghdam is the Chair of the Conference Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society and the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE SYSTEMS JOURNAL. He was an Associate Editor for several journals, including the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CONTROL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY and IEEE ACCESS. He was a Member of the Review Committee for the Italian Research and University Evaluation Agency in 2012–2013 and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada ECE Evaluation Group in 2014–2016. He was the 2014–2015 President of IEEE Canada and Director (Region 7) of IEEE, Inc., and was also a Member of the IEEE Awards Board for this period. He was a Member of the IEEE Medal of Honor Committee and IEEE MGA Awards and Recognition Committee. Dr. Aghdam is a distinguished lecturer of the IEEE, a fellow of the IEEE and the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the recipient of the 2020 IEEE Canada J.M. Ham Outstanding Engineering Educator Award. He was the 2022-2023 Chair of the IEEE Medals Council.
